Hello, everybody!

As we mentioned a few times, in weekchange, chat, and PMs, the game is moving to a close. We want to talk about the end of the game, because it's coming up. First, we want to give a broad outline of the expected remainder of the game. Second, we want to talk about the things we will need from you to make stuff happen. Third, we want to open the floor to make sure we hit any points that people would like to visit.

Onto the outline!

WEEK 35: This is the current week. We have it outlined in Weekchange, but for reference.

WEEK 36: This week starts with characters bringing down Hundun. After this, given that he has a scroll and has promised to get the rest (and is controlling Undine, still, and then some), going after Vorinus seems likely. Whether the characters leave to do this then or they remain at Paracelsus, there will be a Vorinsky attack upon them. This will be a large battle that closes out the week. We'll talk about this battle below!

WEEK 37: The Keepers, Slayers, and any allies that are willing venture forth to the Dire Citadel, Vorinus's ancient keep (at least, we assume so!). It is crawling with nasties; we are thinking to split people up into three to four parties, depending on the number of interested characters, and running it like a Tower dungeon crawl, where players take turns GMing short-ish segments inside of the Dire Citadel. During this, some characters will uncover legendary weapons (or, if worked out with the mods, Other Powers) that'll make fighting Vorinus possible. We'll discuss this below!

EPILOGUE WEEK: After all's said and done, we'll run for another IC week to let people wrap up their arcs and close out their characters.

Before we continue: this is not set in stone! We picked out what feels most likely, as a starting point. If you'd rather have your characters approach this another way, let us know! Similarly, if you have things you want to include, please let us know. We're leaving basically all of Week 36 to wrap stuff up (and indeed, there's an event regarding the fate of the Castillos the mods may run then). We can -- and will! -- add a week, even two, if people need it. We don't, however, want to add an entire extra arc to the game, so a complex plot that takes several weeks to wrap up isn't likely to be included.

What do we need from players?

First, during the battle in week 36, we need NPCed Vorinskies and spirits. Vorinus is sending a lot of people there. We're hoping to get smaller scale fights -- one versus one, one versus two, two versus three, et cetera -- instead of a few large boss fights. If you can help, we'd appreciate it!

Second, we need to know: did Rhys and Ezra keep their scrolls on their person when they went into Hundun or did they leave them hidden somewhere? This will affect their disposition when they return (and also the nature of the final boss fight).

Next, inside the Dire Citadel, we'll split up GMing duties as people climb through the final dungeon on their way to the battle against Vorinus. This will work like the Tower crawls, until everyone gets to the end.

The final battle against Vorinus and the obligatory real final battle against I Can't Believe It's Not Zeromus (yes, we're serious) will have limited seating. During the trek through the Dire Citadel, one character per mun will receive a piece of legendary gear. This will be a serious power-up: it'll enhance one of their Schools, provide a new super spell, and generally make the character much stronger. This has a strict limit of one character per mun, and only those characters can fight Vorinus and the real final battle. So, pick which character gets that, if you have multiple characters, and feel free to design the artifact!

The artifact, so you know, is part of Vorinus's dread arsenal gathered over millennia. They are often ancient. Some may be weapons, armor, and artifacts with spirits sealed in them so they can talk and provide extra power. Some are just ridiculously strong. Let us know what you want; we're very flexible.

Finally, at the end, it is very likely that all of the Scrolls and the Key will be gathered in one place. If this is the case, characters have the option to change the setting and undo (for example) the House system of magic, the existence of magic in the first place, and other elements. We'd prefer OOC discussion about this; while we're fine with conflict over it, we'd rather know what we're doing. Especially because it affects the epilogue week!

Thank you for running through the game with us. It's been a crazy two years, and both mods had a lot of fun. We hope you have, too, and here's to an exciting end of the game!

Due to the events in the plot log, all members of House Castillo and House Patisse are now (magically, at least) members of House Almagoras. This is true across the entire world.

Blame Asmo.

Hi everybody!

We've decided to extend the week by one week. Tex has finished with his school projects and has more time, and it looks like a lot of us haven't gotten into Week #19 yet. We'll get an event up over the weekend, possibly before, for REGISTRATION. Yes, friends, it's time to register for classes. On Thursday, you get to choose your courses for the Spring semester.

You get three courses per day. ADDITIONALLY, Erik Ivarrson is offering a special class on Tuesday and Thursday, 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM. This would be a seventh class. Sign up at your own peril. The classes can be found here as always; click on the tab that says "Spring Semester Classes" at the bottom.

Next: it's time to put your new skill slot in play! You are free to declare it now or wait. This can be a new school or a new skill. If you go this route, we ask that you say they're a novice in this area; they're effective, but someone just learning their new school shouldn't beat Cassidy at Mending or Riona at Channeling. Characters are free to have been practicing off camera or whatever you need so they can start using new powers soon!

You can also use this skill slot to buff a current school. This should be done to represent some kind of super focused area -- for example, Shifting into a colossal 30 foot tall unique monster, a quick burst of Enhancing to be able to make bullets bounce off you for a little bit, et cetera -- that would be a unique super powered spell. For example, Otto's biomechanical dragon form could be considered such a doubled up skill slot. We encourage this to be developed within a limited design space; doubling up on a skill slot is a way to acquire a unique signature ability, not be The Best Channeler Ever.

Feel free to post questions here, state what that new skill slot will be used on (if anything), and raise any concerns!

EDIT: If you are apping an investigator, and they're a teacher (or posing as one), feel free to request some open classes that they teach! Tex already has, because he is terrible.

Hi everyone! The event is not quite wrapped up, but we're winding down. I figured people will probably leave after some healing; we definitely don't need to stop RPing, and should something happen that changes what I say here, I will edit accordingly!

Isabella will show up again for a tag or two shortly. Soon as I handle some other mod-related stuff.

We're now good for Friday and Saturday scenes. Since weekchange was... awhile... ago, here's the tags:

Friday 13, tag: ~week #15: 12/13/1996 (friday)
Saturday 14, tag: ~week #15: 12/14/1996 (saturday)

Basically, on Friday, it will be announced that Otto von Schellenberg was a traitor who was behind the attacks in the Tower. The man in the mask won't be mentioned, but it won't be said whether he was brought to justice either; it will also be announced that he was killed when confronted in Longpike, but not by who. If someone asks Isabella about it, she'll say she told the administration about Otto, but not about the students' involvement for their own safety (just in case). There is obviously an uproar about this, but it's kept pretty quiet.

The mundane news is reporting that Longpike was struck by a meteor. Seriously. People will be suspicious, though; some mundanes are saying that's impossible.

Exams are next week, and aren't canceled; however, if a character was seriously wounded and can't be back in good shape by Monday, their exams will be postponed. Otto's will be given by Rahela, who is actually an easier grader than Otto. Makeup exams will need to be taken the week before next semester starts; the written exams will be at the discretion of the teachers, but the makeup for the Tower run will be done by Erik.

The Tower run is expected to be safe, but this time, they're more serious. People can see something being brought in Saturday morning: three Archon-Golems, some of the most advanced automated magical sentinels known to man. They're prohibitively expensive and ridiculously powerful. They're considered military grade magical artifacts, partly because they're able to launch wide area-of-effect attacks that were meant to help crush whole divisions if World War III broke out in Europe. The rumor is that Lord Vorinus donated them personally, possibly to make up for Mircea's blunder. He's one of the few people who can afford it.

Hi everybody! We are going to get the practical up later today, because I figure this may take some time. This post is for the purposes of planning!

People will be split into groups of three for this event. People will go into caves that are sealed off, and come face to face with the Somniars; they're behind magical barriers, which means -- ideally -- they just see them, and learn what scares them. And force other people to see them, too. But then, the barriers are let down, and the Somniars rush out and attack people! You can check out the details of how the Somniars work on weekchange. They'll go after everyone, but they are focused heavily on the individuals who were involved in the attacks during the Tower Exam. The Somniars will be trying to kill these people, and are being directed in that.

We will leave GMing your fear-inspired monsters up to you, with a reasonable amount of trading -- so if they're scared of another character, the Somniar taking that character's form could be played by the character's mun. However, there will be a couple things where the mods may step in to provide guidance, because obviously someone is behind this. We'll give you clues about that! And a chance for an encounter with Somebody.

Also, to be clear: the Somniars will not break out of the Tower (or even past the floor that the practical is held on). So if you're not in the practical for some reason, then you won't encounter your fear. This is an opt out in case you'd rather not put your character through the ringer.

So! Plot your groups and your fears out. The practical goes up this afternoon. :E

Hey everybody! We have a quick one today.

As we've mentioned before, the game is expected to have three phases/seasons/whatever you want to call them. They will roughly match the fall, spring, and summer semesters with wiggle room to match the demands of plot. We're still in Phase 1, at present, of course, but there's one thing that we want to tell y'all about so you can plan. This is strictly optional.

Shortly around or after the time Phase 2 rolls around, we will open up a fourth skill slot -- so either another major, career-level skill or a magical School -- for characters who've been in the game and active during Phase 1 (which we will define roughly for inclusiveness/not screwing over new characters). Why are we telling you now? So you can start having characters learn about it and work it into your RP if you like. We won't have restrictions based on age/time in school; this may not be strictly realistic, but we're aiming for fun and more toys for people.

If you'd prefer your character not pick a new skill up, that is also okay! No decisions need to be made at present, and Phase 2 is not expected to roll around for three to four months, possibly longer.

EDITED TO ADD: Also, if you want to raincheck getting a third school for your character for later on for any reason, that's also fine!

Hey guys! Probably not a big surprise, but...

We're gonna do a week extension, because with Doom's absence, we're gonna either be cutting deep into next IC week or we're gonna need to extend. We'd rather extend, instead of have a lot of the characters stuck in the previous week. Very sorry if this inconveniences anyone!

We'll look into doing a social event on Saturday for people, if they're interested.

Hi everybody!

Me and Doom reflected on the fact Chibi's out this weekend and the week was frontloaded. We're adding an OOC week to this week -- gives us a bit more time to PREP FOR PLOT.

There will be lots. It will be glorious. :E

Hello! It's time for the next practical! Sorry for poor organization, I'm a more at-the-wire kind of a mod, I guess.

The format will be thus:

Each team will have 3 members. I'll reserve Kate and Madison for fillers in the event there's not enough folks to go around. The event post will have a thread for each phase, and each person should go for 2-3 tags in their phase. After about 2 days (so on Thursday, Saturday, and then finishing next Monday), I'll kick off the next phase!

I'm doing it this way so that, 1) I can start each phase by announcing the standings; and 2) So that racers can meddle with each other. Please do meddle with each other. The cries of your despair give power to my foul master.

Elimination isn't a concern. In the worst case a teacher will hand you a replacement baton while they dig your previous partner out of the Kraken's stomach. Also, it's totally fine to be sitting in the stands pulling peanut gallery duty, waiting your turn/cooling down from your run/even just hanging out to watch.

ICly, teams will be selected by Sarah-Beth Weatherford, which I will simulate OOCly by not telling you what the obstacles are yet. :P I'll put the IC event post up Tuesday afternoonish so people have some time to chat about teams. Sorry for the late post!

Hi everybody! So the first practical will be occurring on Friday, IC. However, I plan to post the event post for it tomorrow so we can run it over the course of the week.

Otto von Schellenberg will be expecting everyone to engage in finding herbs and other reagents in the woods. This includes fighting -- for lack of a better term -- low level monsters for parts. He will have an exhaustive list that will be provided, though I won't write it out, and people will get points for acquiring items. Each item will be scored according to rarity, and the team that has the most points wins the practical.

To make it fair/represent the craziness of the luck involved, I'm gonna basically roll dice for everyone to see how many common items they get. You guys can do threads about fighting slimes, giant rats, and forest crabs to get stuff, also gathering herbs and rocks off the ground.

The real points will come from rare items! I am going to GM your chance to get those To make this easier, I'd like y'all to group characters into teams of two (and three if needed).

This post is to plan who is partnered with who! The partnering will be done randomly ICly, but OOCly, you can plot it out. You don't have to have every character participate if you wanna focus your efforts. So sign up here, and say if you want a partner or are looking for one! If you'd rather handwave your character's involvement, that's fine -- they just won't have the winning score for this practical (victory only comes through participation!). Lera and/or Tyrus will be used to even teams out if need be.

Winning nets prizes. Seriously.

So! Post with what character(s) you'll be participating with, and who you'll be partnering with! The event post goes up tomorrow.

Hi, everybody!

We’re now a little less than a week from opening. We wanted to do a few housekeeping things here, so we want to give y’all some more information, but also collect some feedback, too. Read on for that, and offer your thoughts below!

Aw yeah information. )

Good afternoon, current and prospective players!

We’ve had a lot of interest so far, so thank you very much for that! Our first apps have come in, and not just from the mods themselves! We have a few simple bits of housekeeping to do, to keep everybody in the loop. The point of this post is to keep everybody informed of what’s going on behind the scenes, when we expect to open, and the like.

First, we have been at work on getting everything set-up behind the scenes. This is preparing the first weekchange, getting notes ready on the mod plot, and adjusting the knobs and levers necessary to make a good presentation. There isn’t a ton of stuff here to share, besides to say that we are working on it.

Second, feel free to ask any questions you have -- comment here, use the mod contact, pop into chat, or get ahold of us another way.

Third, and perhaps most importantly, Doom and Tex won’t be omnipresent next week. Doom has a small surgery to undergo next week, but the recovery time may knock him out. Tex’s job will be busy, with two cases going to trial and company in town over Memorial Day weekend. As such, if we’re slow to answer a question or approve an app, don’t fret! That won’t be a regular state of affairs; we just didn’t want you in the loop.

Right now, we’re fully expecting to go IC on June 1st. We may push that back if we feel it necessary, but we’re off to a strong start and I don’t think it’s likely. If you have friends who might be interested, toss it their way, too! We will be getting some planning and discussion posts up soon, too, by early next week!
