Registration, Spring '97 Classes, New Skill Slots, and Week Extension!
Hi everybody!
We've decided to extend the week by one week. Tex has finished with his school projects and has more time, and it looks like a lot of us haven't gotten into Week #19 yet. We'll get an event up over the weekend, possibly before, for REGISTRATION. Yes, friends, it's time to register for classes. On Thursday, you get to choose your courses for the Spring semester.
You get three courses per day. ADDITIONALLY, Erik Ivarrson is offering a special class on Tuesday and Thursday, 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM. This would be a seventh class. Sign up at your own peril. The classes can be found here as always; click on the tab that says "Spring Semester Classes" at the bottom.
Next: it's time to put your new skill slot in play! You are free to declare it now or wait. This can be a new school or a new skill. If you go this route, we ask that you say they're a novice in this area; they're effective, but someone just learning their new school shouldn't beat Cassidy at Mending or Riona at Channeling. Characters are free to have been practicing off camera or whatever you need so they can start using new powers soon!
You can also use this skill slot to buff a current school. This should be done to represent some kind of super focused area -- for example, Shifting into a colossal 30 foot tall unique monster, a quick burst of Enhancing to be able to make bullets bounce off you for a little bit, et cetera -- that would be a unique super powered spell. For example, Otto's biomechanical dragon form could be considered such a doubled up skill slot. We encourage this to be developed within a limited design space; doubling up on a skill slot is a way to acquire a unique signature ability, not be The Best Channeler Ever.
Feel free to post questions here, state what that new skill slot will be used on (if anything), and raise any concerns!
EDIT: If you are apping an investigator, and they're a teacher (or posing as one), feel free to request some open classes that they teach! Tex already has, because he is terrible.

FIRST POST!!!111!For skill slots:
Julian's getting Invoking so he can summon all the ravens ever
Tristan is getting Enhancing to improve his werewolfismON SECOND THOUGHT I'm going to put Tristan's skill slot into buffing Shifting, to allow him to shift into a much stronger armoured werewolf with elongated claws. LIKE SO (I'm guessing this would be kind of similar to biomechanical shifting?)
Aaaaand Val is getting Mace Training with a bit of 'improvised weapons' tossed in (so long as it's mace/club-like BASHING THINGS IS USEFUL).

a) Feel free to introduce your new Schools starting now.
b) While we want people at a beginner level, please don't feel this means "be boring." For instance: Julian can totally have awesome magical ravens rather than just... plain old ravens.

Lera will be getting Channeling, which will initially focus on fire.
It's just Firebending, folks.Chisaki will be adding Imbuing, so she can make specialized ammunition. It's initially only enchanting her bullets. And Cassidy's belongings, to piss him off.

It will probably center around pranks and weapon enchantments.

Cassidy and Riona! Cassidy is taking Spiritual Binding Pacts for lack of anything more appealing in that time slot. (Basically it's his "throwaway" class (only it's Cassidy so he'll still try to ace it. Nerd.))
The main reason why he's not in Offensive Mending Theory is because he wants to keep his knowledge in that sect on the lowdown. If it weren't for that, you can bet your ass he'd request an override. (Assuming a first-year would need one for a 300-level course.)
Oh, and he's also stoked for Guillaume. PATISSE REPRESENT.
Half of Riona's choices this semester have to do with the scroll and wanting to learn more context. She's taking Biomechanical Shifting, but she's not, like, super interested in it? But I think she's probably already taken CHAN245. idk, might switch it out for Firearms and Modern Warfare. Also waffling between Advanced Elemental Channeling and Battlefield Manipulation and Devastation.
SKILLS
Ssuuuuuper vague right now. Cassidy will be buffing his Mending, but I don't know in what area. Honestly, an alternative could be learning Empathy because he sort of already uses something like it in affecting emotions via Imbued food? Though I've been hitting it from a brain chemicals/Mending angle.
[ edit: Actually, I'm tempted to have his buff focus on the brain's neurotransmitter systems -- no more than two when spring semester begins, and possibly trying to learn another on his off-time which... will definitely be a lot more slow-going than during break. ]
Even less of an idea with Riona. Probably buffing in Shifting. I mentioned chemical composition Shifting (like making her saliva induce paralysis or her blood corrosive) in chat many moons ago, but I haven't actually sat down to give it some thought. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say whatever chemicals she Shifts, their properties won't affect her, though. Otherwise that would be very self-defeating.

His spirit has been mentoring him in its charming way and Rhys is developing greater control over his bones and sinew. By which I mean weaponizing them directly. Bone blades and tendon grappling! Fun for the whole family! He'll be
eventually forced toable to take the form of a bony wyvern with this, which will look slightly dracolichy and still have too many eyes. And I'd like to reserve ACOM 305: Barrier Studies and MEND 234: Spiritual Disease and Treatment for incoming investigator if they're not already taken!

I will also pick classes... soonish
Extremely Timely
Madison: You are now entering a world in which Madison Hunter is an overachiever.
Kate: Kate just trying to keep her head above water.
Celestina: Celes is fine as long as she can make time for her stories.
Fourth Skills:
To begin at the ending, Celestina is letting her fourth slot hang open for now; I have a few ideas but I wanna see where she goes in play first.
Kate is going into Enhancing with a focus on reflexes and sensory acuity. Eventually she may work on overall speed and strength to give her an edge in a fight. If this reminds you of Zen Taifeng well congratulations because THE CIRCLE IS COMPLETE
Madi is going into Imbuing because she kind of has to as she explores her secret interests. Her focus is a little haphazard, with simple object-improvement charms like self-handling bolts and screws, but she also will be able to handle rudimentary artifice on her own now.
