Somniar Practical Planning

Hi everybody! We are going to get the practical up later today, because I figure this may take some time. This post is for the purposes of planning!

People will be split into groups of three for this event. People will go into caves that are sealed off, and come face to face with the Somniars; they're behind magical barriers, which means -- ideally -- they just see them, and learn what scares them. And force other people to see them, too. But then, the barriers are let down, and the Somniars rush out and attack people! You can check out the details of how the Somniars work on weekchange. They'll go after everyone, but they are focused heavily on the individuals who were involved in the attacks during the Tower Exam. The Somniars will be trying to kill these people, and are being directed in that.

We will leave GMing your fear-inspired monsters up to you, with a reasonable amount of trading -- so if they're scared of another character, the Somniar taking that character's form could be played by the character's mun. However, there will be a couple things where the mods may step in to provide guidance, because obviously someone is behind this. We'll give you clues about that! And a chance for an encounter with Somebody.

Also, to be clear: the Somniars will not break out of the Tower (or even past the floor that the practical is held on). So if you're not in the practical for some reason, then you won't encounter your fear. This is an opt out in case you'd rather not put your character through the ringer.

So! Plot your groups and your fears out. The practical goes up this afternoon. :E

I am gonna focus on Lera for this one! Chisaki won't be there unless absolutely necessary for a group to make (and maybe not then) because I have a good bit of GMing to do for this particular event!

Lera's fear is being killed by her brother, callously and violently. So that's gonna be fun for people who are with her!

I am open for group suggestions.

I am open to flexibility with Rhys Fears because HE HAS MANY, but for the moment I am leaning toward Gonzales trying to kill him because she knows who he is. Anyone trying to murder him because they know would be effective. Gonzales is just the one he thinks definitely would at the moment.

I need to give the Somniar's reaction to Riona some thought because most of her fears are not of the physical/immediate threat variety. If nothing else, it will be based on the threat of all out war between the Houses following the Almagoras' exposure. idk how that would manifest in the Somniar, though?

That said, I'm cool with throwing her into whatever group!

I had to think about this for Chisaki, who'd be afraid of the older kids at the home beating her up!

My thought was they can split into multiple bodies kinda but it's more like there's tendrils of shadow linking their feet and they have to stay together. It's more like a frightening mass that links together here and there, fluidly and creepily? So if she feared, like, a squad of mage soldiers attacking them, it could do that.

That is AWESOME. Does the Somniar have the ability to use magic, too?

Yes! It can draw on what the fear is to do that. It is kinda limited -- like, it will act within the bounds of the imitation and probably won't be innovative. So, it'll use magic violently and viscerally?

But it won't, like, think to do super clever, innovative uses of spells. Like (and this example may be bad) it'd use Channeling to make a fireball but not light candles.

We are making a group and since all three of us are going to be targeted by fear monsters for fearsassination we thought it would be good to, like, do it together and stuff.

Cassidy has a pretty good idea of what the Somniar will show him (a lady) (he's correct) and he doesn't want that fear exposed, so he'll be sitting this one out.

Tristan's fears are mostly abstracts, like a House war breaking out, or losing control of his anger again, or some such. I think the most obvious real physical threat would be the masked Almagoras, and that'd be not so much fear for HIMSELF as fear for EVERYONE ELSE.

Though given that if the guy did show up to target him specifically, and that is a concern given his House, it would be a possibility, since any attack on himself when he weren't alone would also endanger those with him.

It's not a fear he really acknowledges, and not likely something he'd be expecting either. So uh if anyone wants to witness him freak out about this that'd be awesome??? (Who's to say the thing behind the barrier ISN'T the Almagoras??? HE'S SHOWN UP UNEXPECTEDLY BEFORE)

Kate's fear is a Special Guest Star who I'd prefer to get some people who are already close to her for because it's a doozy.

I'm down for this but I'm not sure what that fear would be, probably something gothic as fuck obviously.
