OOC News
SECOND TO LAST WEEK.
Uh, we're aiming for about two or three weeks for this one.
Last Week...
The characters were sucked into a nightmare realm inside of Hundun! Oh no!
They ultimately found the way out, using the gems dropped by certain nightmares, that unlocked the castle in the center of the nightmare world. This entailed entering a citadel made of Ashtaroth's dreams, where they learned about her terrible past and how she was forced to kill her brother. They fought her, then they recovered an artifact to seal Hundun inside.
And reality slipped away, to reveal...
...This Week!
...this. We'll avoid saying exactly how it resolves as, er, it hasn't. Yet. If the characters do something way off what we're guessing, we may need to revise this weekchange.
Suffice to say: the world now knows that magic is real, and if your characters are watching CNN, people are literally screaming about it on 24 hour news for 24 hours.
The death toll is pretty low, incidentally. Most people were absorbed by Hundun if they were in the field of effect, and freed later. The deaths are more like cases where Hundun turned someone's car engine into a screaming six mouthed alligator and they crashed/got eaten. The danger was Hundun consumed the spirits and bodies of every living thing all at once when he finished.
Characters spend the next day or so in New York; Trenton, Weatherford, and Schellenberg will cover any hospital stays. After that, they may want to return to Paracelsus to see what can be salvaged; travel by car can be arranged by Trenton. The good news is that Hundun grew in size as the outside world began to fear him; his swath of destruction at the school was measured in hundreds of feet, rather than miles. There is still weird, purple-ish hellscape scarred through the middle of Paracelsus's grounds, though (and then rapidly expanding, as it cuts across New York and towards NYC).
A quick note: mods are assuming y'all wanna return to Paracelsus. If the cast wants to stay in NYC or head elsewhere, let us know! We can accommodate that. We'd like people to stay in the same general area, but... if they want to go home and walk away from this life, that's fine! It just might be an exit point for them in the story.
We'll give the rest of the week for any socializing people want to do. The next week is the last one, and a lot of that will be spent in the final dungeon -- while we're leaving room for ACTION MINGLES there, this'll be the last chance for time to hang out. And hey, half of Longpike is there if you want to go!
There may be a few smaller events during the week. This is a good chance to wrap stuff up! If Tex can figure out how to salvage his Acher plans (alas, finishing school and starting work kinda did a number on those), there may be things. There may also be Castillo stuff if it can be squeezed in!
At the end of the week, on Saturday, Vorinus orders an all-out attack on the Keepers and Slayers. For this, we ask for VOLUNTEERS to run mini-bosses! These characters can have journals of their own or use the
paraplayer_npcs journal. (The password will be given out in chat.) They should be Vorinskies, maybe a defector from another House, or powerful water spirits sent by Undine to help.This fight will be a lot of small group battles. Characters should usually survive these unless you wanna kill them; if you want to write them out there, please feel free. The Vorinsky combatants can survive, too, if you want; they could reappear in the final dungeon next week. The exact way the fight shakes out can be negotiated as it occurs!
FINALLY: if your characters need a reason to venture to Vorinus's house and beat him up next week, let us know. We can try to make sure we have one.
Weather
Kinda warm and sunny at Paracelsus; a little humid in NYC, but much the same. The areas transformed by Hundun can have freakish outbursts of rain that only affect those regions.
